I got a Materbuilt pro for Father's Day earlier this year. My wife was tired of my complaints that The Nashville area has sh*t for BBQ, so she gave me the chance to do better. I'm new to smoking but an old hand at grilling. Love to do both, but the smoking has my full attention as of late. Love this forum, I have referenced it quite often and today finally joined. Take care all, gotta go check on my chickens

I want to say welcome and those Chickens look AWESOME!

I lived in TwangTown for over 10 yrs, I agree, there is no real good BBQ! You now have to show that lovely wife that YOU are the one to make the BEST BBQ in Nashville!

Welcome to SMF Chitown Dan.  It has been almost 40 years since I left Nashville so I'll have to take your wife's word for it the BBQ there now.  I remember a pop-up BBQ place that two guys ran after work hours.  It was on a side street not too far from where the Navy was paying me to go to university.  The guys had converted an old gas station into a walk-up window place.  No tables or chairs, just a basket of food, a paper napkin, and a plastic fork.  All they served was pulled pork with three different sauces; mild, hot, and "you'll wish you were dead."  I honestly don't remember the name of their hottest sauce but that's how I remember us talking about it.  The place was always packed after midnight and the BBQ was fantastic.

Glad you are enjoying the forum.  Enjoy the addiction and always have fun!  Thanks for the typo chuckle too!
