Just got a 40” Masterbuilt electric smoker. I’d like to get it out of the garage, but I also want to keep it out of the weather to protect the digital controller. I did some searching and saw some enclosures that others have made, but I couldn’t find anything about how an enclosure should be built.

Should I try to make it as sealed up as possible with insulated walls or make it a little more “rustic” looking so air can circulate? Either way, it’ll be made so it get plenty of air when in use, I’m thinking more of keeping it protected when not in use.

Right now I’m leaning towards “rustic” so there’s no worry about condensation building up.

I keep mine (plural) in the garage year round. The way I see it is the heating element has enough problems keeping up with the thermal mass of a large amt of meat, nevermind cold ambient temps.

I just run sort of a universal exhaust system out of the garage. Works great. Consistent results and cooking times every time.

Edit: excuse the white smoke in that pic. That's actually a test run with my UDS hooked up to that hose, but it was the quickest pic I could find that showed the exhaust
