This is gonna be long-winded but I believe you'll understand.

SmokeFest was a combination celebration of, Smoked Foods, good Friends, Family, Fall, and NFL Football. Virtually everything was smoked and made from scratch as much as possible! Ten years ago a friend from work who shared a mutual interest in smoking food invited me and my smoker over to his house and the two of us watched football, drank beer and ate smoked food all day long! We decided to switch houses every year and trade off host duties. The number of guests grew and we both upgraded smokers. Two years ago SmokeFest at my house had almost 50 stuffed but happy celebrants! Last year I ran the Saxman's Grill and had no time off on Sunday's. That broke our streak and this year our schedules are not lookin' too good but I know the Spirit of SmokeFest is upheld by the people on this site, if you've ever hosted a similar celebration I'd like to read about it!
A typical menu;

Appetizers;
Smoked Lake Michigan Salmon
Smoked cheddar & swiss cheeses
Smoked assorted nuts
Smoked bacon/horseradish dip
Smoked salsa w/smoked tortilla chips
Smoked jalapenos stuffed with bbq chicken tenders, wrapped in bacon

Main entrees;
these varied but have included:
Pulled Pork
Smoked Fresh Ham
Smoked Burgers
Smoked Chickens
Smoked Turkey
Smoked Pork Chops
Smoked Venison
Once a Smoked Prime Rib Roast

Side dishes were typical;

Saxman's cole slaw
My Sister's potato salad and macaroni salad
Smoked roasted corn on the cob(wrapped in bacon)
Smoked baked potatoes

The only items guests were asked to contribute were dessert items and any special drink concoctions..

I did do a SmokeFest at the local Pub where I had the Saxman's Grill and did ribs, brisket and pulled pork on a Saturday and Sunday (live entertainment on Sunday afternoon). We rang up the highest total sales we ever recorded on that Sunday! It was so incredibly successful that I bought the Smokin'Tex Electric I now use at home....
Geez! Sorry to have rambled on and on.... guess I better start planning for next year's SmokeFest!!

It's a 1500-C. Pretty sweet for convenience sake. Only uses about 8 ounces of wood per session!

Sounds lie a great time! Sometimes life just gets in the way

Usually it's work that gets in the way but when life takes a hand! I hate when that happens!!! And I was gonna have a flag made with a pig hoisting a beer with one arm and cradling a football in the other. I'll get over it. It's not like I'm not smokin' every other weekend anyway!
