My propane smoker has two doors, the top one with a glass window. After a few hours, The residue on the inside makes it virtually impossible to see my thermometer and what's going on inside.

How can I prevent this?

I don't know that you can prevent it from happening, but if you coat the window with liquid dish soap, it is easier to clean.  Unfortunately it will fog over quicker.  The other solution is to dip a damp cloth in wood ash, and use that to clean the window.  The water and wood ash make a weak form of lye, I use that to clean the window on my woodstove all the time.  Hope one of those helps.

You can't...Get a Therm with a Probe and a Remote like a Maverick 732/733. I can monitor the Smoker Temp and Meat IT from my Recliner. Sure is nice on 100° days or smoking in the Rain...JJ

I use vinegar to clean my glass window. A cheap 2 sided foam/scratch pad sponge works very good. My window is on the front and I can see the smoke flowing counter-clockwise. I learned from Franklin's BBQ youtube videos, that the smoke should not be super thick (white/gray). What I do is...I burn all the wood until my smoker is clear, then look at the meat from the window to see how well the bark is forming and check out the juice puddles on the meat, then I add more wood, and continue smoking until the calculated times is complete.....or the meat looks visually done. I use about a handfull of wood chips every 1.5 hours.

Scrub daddy sponge in cold water worked great for me. Granted it was my first smoke in a MES, but I presume it should work on a heavily smoke "stained" window. They are great sponges.
