Got Bored Today, Needed to smoke something, (Having to wait till Friday to smoke my cured 1/2 pork butt.

So I needed some Smoked salt so I lit my Trusty AMNPS with some Pit Masters Choice and dumped a box of salt

into a foil pan.

Then decided to dry some fruit for my Wife's cereal

Put salt on at 7:00 AM   Lit both ends of my AMNPS

At 3:00 PM   You can see where one end burned a whole lot slower and

finally went out   8 hours of smoke

You really can't tell but it had a very slight brown tint

Banana's  and Strawberry's

Thanks for looking

I have the same dehydrator. Do you find that yours takes longer than it should to dehydrate? I did some tomatoes the other day and it took 18 hours to dry them out. I wonder if it is just the crazy high humidity around here.

I did Tomato's the other day too,  took about 10 hours

Hey Gary

Did the salt take on much smoke?

Gary
Yes Sir !!!   You can taste it and when you open the jar you get a real heavy smoky smell.

I just flip my charcoal basket upside down and sit my AMNPS on it, open both the top and bottom

vents on my firebox and it smokes away

Never tried smoking salt.

So you lite both ends for 8 hours?

Lit both ends to start with, you can see that one went out at some point, That is why it probably went 8 hours

Like what Jeep said and recipes that call for salt and liquid smoke, you can just use you smoked salt. Anything you want to add a little smoke flavor that calls for salt
