SMF is soooo slow

I belong to several forums. This one is, by far, the slowest. Is it because of the all the ads?

I'm kind of baffled. I disabled my antivirus. That did nothing to help. I went to other forums and they're super fast. Just SMF is slow. Do any of you subscribe to the forum so that you don't see ads?

You probably have a flash issue.  Get the latest version.

I disabled flash and no difference. I hate to take up space on this forum with a slow computer problem but it means the difference between visiting the site and not. It is that slow. Nothing else I do on the computer is that slow. The only difference I see with this forum compared to others is the sheer amount of ads.
