I use an A-MAZE-N tube and tray for my electric smoker and have always bought my pellets from A-MAZE-N. They seem to be gone now, the link I have for their website takes me to Pit Boss now. I don't need 20+ lb bags of pellets. Is there a good brand and place to purchase 1-2 lb bags of different pellets?

I'm kind of in the same boat, except I have a good supply of A-Maze-N pellets and sawdust. A SMF member told me about Owens BBQ, but I contacted them about pecan pellets and they told me they getting out of the pellet business too. I offered to buy some of the other flavors of remaining inventory, but they did not get back in touch or answer emails.

The biggest hurdle is labeling. Some say 100% hardwood (but this can mean flavor wood + filler wood), others say 'XXXX Blend'. One guy swears Lumberjack has 100% hickory pellets. And I've read good reviews for CampChef pellets. If you come across someone selling flavor pellets in the caliber of A-Maze-N let us know, and I'll do the same.

The only thing I can find from Lumber Jack is 20lb + bags. And I would have to drive an hour from home to the nearest retailer.

I think A Maze N got bought out.
I can't help ya with pellets but butcher & Packer has 5 lb hickory dust if anyone is looking for it.

Edit; I see you can get 5 lb. bags of pellets from lowes. have you looked there?

Good info Dan, do you know if they sell any other wood types?

Chris

Owens BBQ . Same quality pellets as you got from AMazeN .
Good people to deal with . Never any problems .
Check out post #2. They refunded my recent online order, explaining pecan was not in stock. I asked about other flavors, and they told me they were moving away from selling pellets. I asked about in-store stock, but no reply.

What flavors are you after ?

I didn't know Tractor Supply had them online. I just ordered some hickory and pitmasters.

Just found that Tractor Supply Co. still has some A-MAZE-N pellet for sale. They will ship if you don't have a store near you.
Tractor Supply BBQ Pellets
Thanks for the heads up. I saw them at Ace Hardware, but they were $8 for 2#. TSC is a much better deal and will hold me over until I find a new supplier that hopefully sells 20# at a time.

Looking at the Tractor Supply store and comparing the Pitmasters Choice...

I see the 5 lb box says it's a mixture of Cherry, Hickory, and Maple... which is correct...

The 2 lb box though is confusing... It says "Pitmasters Choice Maple".. and then in all the descriptions it says it's 100% Maple ...

Further down the list they also have Maple... So I would assume that the Pitmasters Choice 2# box mistakenly describes the contents ... Something I would try to contact them and inquire about before purchasing ...

I hope they have a large supply ... I pretty much only use Pitmasters Choice... and then Pecan ...

I bought 5# of Pitmaster's Choice, and 2 of the 2# Italian spice. I really like that one with beef.
