Should I buy this 40" MES

MES model 20070408 I think it is a 40 inch stainless without the window.

The guy wants $150.00 for it but is about 75 miles from me.

I am relativly new to this hobby and started out with a home made stainless "gasser"

Not real sure if I really need it or have the room.....but....

I know that this is the best place to get some great advice, even though I think I know the answer. I just have to find the money and space.

Depending on the condition of it.
If it is in good condition for that price I would say yes, but then again 75 miles is a bit of a trek. Formerlyfatguy has been selling lots of things recently and I would have happily bought a few of his smokers if he didn't live so far (about 300 miles) but for that price and 75 miles, long as it is in good working order I would say go for it, especially a 40"

He sent me a few pics, (too large to post) but looks pretty new, probably only used a few times. Has a heck of lot less some than mine after a month of use.

Size was one of the reasons I built mine the way I did, and this one is pretty close to the same size.

I would call Masterbuilt and inquire about that model # and see how current it is and what support you can expect.

If the smoker is it in good contition then go for it and you will never be let down. There is something about smoking meat that is very fun and then you get to eat your wares to speak of. After all how far is 75 mles I drive that on almost on a daily routian. If you like the taste of smoked food then go for it.

I have to state a resounding NO because a charcoal smoker is going to give you a better tasting product in the end.

Thanks for the tip Ron Amanda returned my call yesterday and gave me a bunch of information. It is a discontinued model, but still be under warranty. I guess the box is warrantied for a year. She said that replacements run about $90.00 but currently are backordered and may have to be the black model.

She said the control modual is still available with plenty in stock at 24.00.

I am going to contact the seller and see if it is still available, if not, there will be another, but I really think I am leaning towards getting one.

I think that some of the Qview from Ron has something to do with it.

I researching this MES I found a the new model at Sams club 10 miles away for $270 plus tax. with window and light......

If you get the one from Sam's be sure and get the 3 year warrantee, it's only 30 some dollars, well worth it.
