Talked to my brother this weekend. He is a meat manager at a major grocery store. He said hams are going to be hard to get & fresh turkeys almost impossible to get . Some more things to add to list of shortage.

I read that small to medium size frozen turkeys may also be in short supply this year due to higher demand. People are having smaller gatherings due to covid, so there may be more demand for smaller birds than there is a supply. Normally I wait for the cheap pre Thanksgiving sales to buy ours, but I went on and got turkeys last week. With my luck, there will be plenty to be had at dirt cheap prices since I already got mine lol.

Ya I heard the same so our small town grocery store ( less than 1,000 people and no stoplights lol) had them for $1.15 / lb. I bought 2, a small one and a big one. Definitely good on hams here!

We didn't take any chances either, and got 2 - 14 pounders frozen to be better safe than sorry.
Although the Mrs. said if we waited and couldn't get any Turkey by Thanksgiving, we would have Prime Rib instead. So I had some internal decisions to make, lol.

Smallest bird I could find was 14# and $.87/# at Walmart. I snatched it and looked like they had plenty larger ones. Of course they are all frozen rock hard

That's a very good price. We paid $1.59/lb. But we didn't mind. A Bird in hand you know? LOL.

Have a bird in the freezer, just put a hog in the freezer and we make our own hams. It’s the prime rib for Christmas that worries me. I really don’t want to freeze one, may just have to.

Key is buy what you need , but leave some for the next guy .
Back when this covid crap first started, I remember seeing this woman in Meijer just raking canned goods off the shelf and into her cart with her arm. I felt like slapping her upside the head. I'm all for being prepared and all that, but there is a difference in being prepared and being a damn pig.

Thanks for the Heads-up guys!!
We're having Thanksgiving at our house this year, and Bear Jr said he has 2 of the little 3 pound Turkey Roasts for us to make, so I'll make sure he has them, because I would think they'll be a big item this year.
I made one in my Ninja, as a test, and it was Great, so I'll stick 2 of them in there for the 4 of us, and Sammies after that day.
