My wife challenged me to make a dish like this on the bbq. Challenge accepted.

The only challenge was making mashed potatoes. She said ok if pan fried on grill tater use for breakfast hash. Next time will par-boil potatoes over firebox.

I chopped up the veggies outside to keep it bbq experience.

Browned the meat, browned the veggies and mixed in wine (ok, upscale shephards) and let mixture "get happy together". The taters got crispy and then I smashed them a bit. Could have made more but crispy hashbrowns not same as creamy mashed potatoes.

All yummy.

THe methodology worked so there will be more cooks like this in the future. :D

Congrats!
I actually made cottage pie today (beef instead of lamb), but heat index over 100, so outdoor version will have to wait.
