Not really, well kinda sorta. I think I need counseling. I am obsessed with grilling and smoking. I lie awake at night thinking about what I can smoke. Really. I'm reminded of a mini-me at age 7 with the Easy Bake Oven I got for my birthday. I cooked everything from the little cakes that came with it, to frogs, to worms. Whatever wouldn't run away as I shoved it under that lightbulb heating element. As I step outside with my morning coffee there lies the top half of what used to be a mouse. A head and two legs. That's it. My evil kitty, Tiff wanted to thank me for some turkey I gave her last night. Thanks, really. Do you think, noooo, it would fall through the cracks on the grate.

What in the world posseses a semi-rational, grown woman to think of such craziness?

Hugs and good mornin' to all!

I just noticed that I am a "fire starter" and you people think that's a good thing????? LOL!

When you can't think of anything else try smoking some Cheese curls... We had one member do that and he said they weren't bad...

You are right - that is a sick thought. Welcome to the forum!! You are now in step three or four of the ten step process
The Fire Starter label is actually meat as a warning label to all who view

Great posts - keep em coming

Bless your heart...you really do need some attention! Check with you local chapter of Smoker's Anonymous International. They have a 12 step program. Recovery is excellent with good long term success rates....

LOL----You sound pretty normal to me, except for the mouse parts, but then we on this forum have a different view of "normal" than most peeps.

I use to think I was a tad bit obsessive with my new hobby.....

When people said I wasn't right, I just moved the base line of what "normal" is. Now I am normal, everyone else has some challanges.

Keep up your "normal" thinking.

Morning Squirrel,

Its perfectly normal for your mind to work this way, honest its the rest of the world thats a little off. I sit here typing when I should be on my way to mow 4 yards clean one set of gutters and fertilize one yard and all I am thinking about is smoking. I am working on a good plan to pick up a case of ribs on the way home. Hugh....I gota leave first, hopefully autopilot doesn't take over and make my truck drive straight to Sam's.

Have a great day and always remember we are the normal ones.

"Semi-rational"?!!! My family flicks me boogers about my "obsession" constantly until I feed them. Then their jaws flap for a different reason! Few of us around here are even close to semi-rational -- apparently including you!

BTW -- good morning to you from the Left Coast!

It's all right, o-furry tailed one. I can hear 2 slabs of baby's calling out to me from Costco right now. I really hear them. You'll be just fine!

just outa curiousity... the frogs and the worms and whatever else didnt fall thru the grates... didja eatem or feedem to some unsuspecting gulible person... gotta know
biggrin.gif
and yup i think its a good thing, we were all fire starters at one time. just wait til you get into sausage making and meat curing. boggles the mind... not to mention fatties, you smoked any fatties yet??? if ya havent ck out the fatty section and take a peek... dont worry we all suffer from the same affliction. back atcha

It's an addiction and a tasty one at that. I too constantly think of smoking and grilling. I look at it more as a passion then an obsession. I think my wife likes to use the word obsession.

I say harness this drive as it's just another great form of art. A very tasty one.

Like a painter lays down layers of paint creating a masterpiece soon to be proudly displayed on a wall. We lay down layers of herbs, spices and smoke to create a masterpiece layered with flavors that will proudly be displayed in the center of our table. The bonus is that our work of art tastes amazing and we get to eat it all GONE! Create out of the box smoked goods and have fun with it.

I would however avoid smoking rodents...

Back in the 60s and 70s we took drugs to make a normal world seem weird. Now it's 2010 and we take drugs to make a weird world seem normal.
Google ,robin williams ,what is normal.

Yes mam you have and you have it bad. But the worst is yet to begin you are well on your way to the asylum of the smoked. You have ventured out to some really good dishes and I have ogled over many of them in this short time you have visited us here. Now the worst is yet to come and just wait till you start looking at some really strange things like shoes to smoke and you can make them taste good with this on them. But just remember you will be alright as long as you don't try it. You cann't make them taste good I have tried.

If I could only get Trish to think of Smoked Food 1/10th the amount you do,I'd be a happy man.Don't get me wrong,I love my wife, but she gives me the"Talk to the hand" treatment when outdoor cooking is mentioned
icon_mad.gif
She enjoys my Que and brags about it to everyone at work.Yet she balks at the mention of it from me and it's over!
icon_redface.gif

(I know I'll get a little flack from everyone for this, but) As you know I am disabled and only get a set income which goes into the Bank...Trish controls the money as I lose track(checks left=money left)LOL...Soooooo...

Granted,I would be Smoking anything I could feasibly get on the Smoker, but I know not to ask for Meat(or money for that fact)
icon_rolleyes.gif
I just like to think of stuff to do and discuss it,like Smoked Asparagus or Fruit or cheese...
I know she likes this stuff, cause she buys it all the time at roadside stores??? And I start to tell her I could do that, but, talk-to-the-hand!
Now I sneak things in on her (when she wants me to Smoke-like the Asparagas), and she loved it.What gives?I beginning to think she's "NUTS";not liking smoked food , and having it available to her at anytime, from someone that loves to do it...

I've asked this before;'how do you get a person to join in and enjoy a conversation or activity? It's not like I want her to run after stuff or doing things for me(I learned not to do THAT a long time ago
PDT_Armataz_01_05.gif
)!!!
It can't be that it's because she's an Ohio girl (her whole family and all the neighbors love my Smokes). It's just a thing she's got about discussing it ,just had a scarry thought!!!!!What if it is to bribe me when she wants something
icon_question.gif

Oh, well, any thoughts are welcome,I'm in need of help!
