Well, I'm not a psychologist nor do I claim to know anything about women, but you need to make her think that smoking something is HER idea. Don't show any interest in smoking anything -- she will eventually miss it and want some pulled pork or something. Tell her "no, that's too much trouble". Rave about how awesome the crap that comes out of the oven is. Really, just act like you don't even care about smoking anything anymore, and put up a fight whenever she asks you to do it.

Eventually, she will be forcing you to smoke things.

I guess I am lucky as my first smoker was an ecb and the wife did not want me to buy it, in fact it almost caused a divorce.

After the first summer her and the kids got together and bought me a smokey mountain propane unit.

The interesting thing is that the gas grill that is usually on almost every night in the summer has been sitting idle and instead of what are we barbecuing for our guests it is what are you going to smoke.

Each time I am getting a little braver and trying new things, last night was turkey breast injected with a garlic sauce.

Now I wonder if I should push the limits and get the puppy I want LOL

Squirrel - you're going through all of the steps to becoming a true smoke addict! Love the enthusiasm, and it definitely adds some creativity to your smokes!

I'm sorry Oldschool, I sure hope she's not "using" the smoking thing to get what she wants. That's just wrong. I absolutely cannot stand drama. I swear I must have been a man in a previous life, because I came back this time blonde, umm, how should I put this without offending anyone, umm, top heavy LOL!!! I like beer, I snore, love to smoke, or cook anything for that matter, I only own six pairs of shoes and my favorites are hiking boots. Go figure. I haven't been in a relationship in a while because the guy was too darn needy, calling all the time. Geez, I don't have that much to say so why do we have to see each other every day??? Okay, I'm done. I'm heading back outside to check on the turkey hooters on the smoker. MmmMMmmMMmm.

Hey Squirrel, sounds like you hit the stage I crossed paths with a year or so back...I just go with the flow and let whatever I have in mind come to life...er, uh...smoke.

I get some of my inspiration for trying new ideas when I hit a "stall"...that's when my creative juices just flow like a river and all hell breaks loose in my outdoor kitchen. Next thing I know, we're eating dinner and lovin' it!

Sometimes, you just gotta let it all hang out, and the results are always enjoyable!

My Navy Seal buddy says if you're hungry enough you'll eat the butt out of a cow.

Well, from that point, a 1/2 rat seems tasty ....

And when you run out of stuff to smoke, there's always bacon.

LOL...I have only one smoker and two grills and my wife thinks I'm nuts.

Great thread....I enjoyed reading about all the other smokey nuts in the world.

I too lay awake thinking about the next time I get to smoke some meat. I can't wait until this weekend...big barbeque.

LOL----You sound pretty normal to me, except for the mouse parts, but then we on this forum have a different view of "normal" than most peeps.

Bearcarver
I agree with Bearcarver here. Normal is normal for most normal things that are normal. .... or something like that. .... So who is to decide what normal is? maybe.... I think I lost myself. ah well.

How about some cream cheese stuffed snake. That might be interesting.

When I got my smoker, my wife didn't object, but she was kind of upset when I got up at 5am or so to go start it up to do some ribs, and upset that I wouldn't leave to go shopping with her.

A couple weeks later for a family get together, she insisted I smoke some more ribs, and was curious as to when I was going to get up so they would be done in time, and didn't care that I wouldn't be able to go with her as long as she got ribs to eat.
