 Hey guys and gals,

I have just purchased a new rather large pit and was wandering if y'all have any tips on seasoning it?  I have seasoned a small to medium pit before and was thinking of doing it the way I have always but, just wanted to get your opinion on a large pit.

The pit is a offset wood/gas hybrid.   It has two shelves inside.  It still smells like welding.  I will use wood 99% of the time.  The only reason I had a gas tube put in is when I cater for football game and they want hamburgers and hotdogs quick and fast.   Any info about seasoning would be much appreciated.  Thanks

Read my,Trish gave me Butt ,Post. I've found it works like a charm, my metal is getting a Burnished look to it and the rust is controled.

Just sayin' , have fun and...
