Good afternoon,
My name is Guy. I live in Thailand when I am not working overseas in construction. A friend forwarded this site to me as I have been looking for some decent bacon here in Thailand but can only find the Streaky stuff. Being a Brit I love my Back Bacon or Canadian Bacon. Sadly there is none to be had up here in the North East Thailand. Bangkok is over 700 klicks and a 9 hour drive, so I can't quite nip down to the shops!
So I am hoping to glean some info outta you guys in my Quest to even make my own Bacon. Any suggestions on smokers, how to build one possibly, as things are a little limited up here.
Pork is Abundant though. I have, on occasion been down at t he market when the porkers arrive and then a few moment later they're sliced and diced and on the slab.
Beef here is a none starter as it's not a great taste and is tough as old boots!
Yes Thai food is delicious but it's the little things that you miss when you're abroad! Bacon is my little thing that I miss. We ( the wife and I) recently visited my folks in Australia, when we returned to Thailand we brought back a kilo of Bacon, honestly we should've brought more! That was the last Back Bacon I had.
Any way Thanks for letting me join your group.
