Sad day....

I cleaned out all the ash out of our XLBGE. Had all the small chunks of chunk charcoal in a metal pan.  Hmmm....have not done a clean burn in 7 months or so....fired it up, was sitting outside enjoying the beautiful morning and heard it crack....smoke started bellowing out of the base.....So much for tomorrows ribs and beans.....damn it....

Sorry to hear that. Other than some inconvenience and some postponed smokes I don't think you will have problems getting a warranty replacement. I hear their warranty policy is great.

Well.....that really sucks.  Hopefully warrenty will cover a replacement.

Ouch! Didd you have any custom or modded grates in there? I have xl bge too. This is my nightmare. You don't hear of them cracking often! Let us know how the warranty replacement experience goes...

No custom stuff. Fie grate has a good sized crack and the firebox is in 2 pieces as well. Both of them have been cracked since 08 or so....
