So I woke up at 3:00 this morning and realized that I had neglected to shut the valve on my 300 cf argon tank yesterday after I finished some fabrication. (The gas solenoid in many welders isn’t exactly perfect, and this often results in an expensive empty tank). I couldn’t take it, so I drove down to the shop, shut off the gas (hadn’t leaked too much) and wondered what I could do that might be useful until the rest of the world was awake.

Broke out the smoker, a couple racks of ribs, and trimmed them up. Found some thick cut bacon, and some beans, and went to work on lunch for the guys.

About 3 hrs in, I wrapped the tips with some butter, rub and honey. I also put the bacon on, and mixed up my favorite bean recipe.

Let it go for another 2.5 hrs or so at 250 until everything was looking about right

Had to distract the riff raff with a little Brie to keep em from eating all the bacon before it made it into the beans

A little potato salad, and we’re good to go.

Of course, now it’s the middle of the afternoon, and everyone’s in a meat coma, not getting anything useful done...

Did you do that with the same smoke generator that you sent me? It’s hard to tell from the pics. I’m working on a Sirloin tip roast now. I cut the bottom third off to make burnt ends. I’ll try again to post pics when I’m done.

I hope you get up early to turn off the gas more often haha. Like!
Hey, at $90 or so for a big bottle like that, the next time I do it I'll be back out there!!!
(I have a big sign on the door on the way out that says: "Did you turn off the Damned Gas??)

(I'm the worst offender by far)
Thanks for the Like!
