Trying it out tonight. It's from a cherry that died couple years ago. It's getting a preheat on the fb the into the smoker it goes. I've seen Myron mixon talk about it. This stuff was in the crotch of a piece of wood, not growing on the outside. Think it's still as good?

I’m thinking it’s still green. Unsplit wood takes a looong time to season. But, that color stuff is normal.

Use a small amount of that cherry, mix with seasoned wood.

Aww. Good job on researching that. And I thought it was normal, cause i’ve seen it before and thought nothing of it. Well, looks like I owe motolife a beer!
