Never thought about cleaning that probe but it makes sense. Guess I’ll start doing that. My smoke stack is rough but the probe looks remarkably good for never being cleaned. Grates get cleaned regularly and I vacuum it out every couple cooks. Just never thought to clean the probe. My 1250 is dead on accurate. I used the RT probes on the grates & a couple of Inkbird probes on the grates as well & set it to 225. Everything read 225. One thing to do is each time you use the RT, clean the internal temp probe with rubbing alcohol. If it gets a build up on it it may lead to inaccurate temp regulation.

exciting!!Great advice, I am expecting my 1250 to arrive this morning. Can't wait to fire it up.

Awesome and appreciate it, +/- 2° should be good enough for anybody. You are going to like it.
I'm with Al, my 1250 internal and meat probes are spot on (yes clean your internal air probe regularly). I have tested the meat probes with my Thermapen One and they have been within +/- 1 to 2 deg....good enough for me.
Good advice from Al for any temp probe....each time you use the RT, clean the internal temp probe with rubbing alcohol. If it gets a build up on it it may lead to inaccurate temp regulation.

Al gives good advice for any internal temp probe. They do get dirty in a smoker and if a blob of sauce gets on the sensor end, they can really read crazy...or "control" your cooker in a crazy way....clean the internal temp probe with rubbing alcohol. If it gets a build up on it it may lead to inaccurate temp regulation.
