i have a pitboss 1000, the only thing i can say i'm not happy with is the lighter smoke flavor, but that may be true with most pellet smokers/grills. i usually add the amnps tube for more smoke. i can't comment on other brands. i will say though i get better smoke flavor with my mes 30

I love my Rec Tec RT-700!!! had it two years and its rock solid! LOVE IT! Works great, cooks great. If you need to call them they are AWSOME - service is unparalleled.

I would not recommend a Trager. heard of way too many issues, breakdowns etc.

Ditto everything Dave said. Heard good stuff about Camp Chef and Pit Boss, but not so much about the Traeger. Like Dave also,I have an RT 700 and absolutely love it. Thing is built like a tank, perform flawlessly, and customer service is second to none.

I have been leaning towards rec tec. Heard great things, just wasn’t sure if wanted to spend the money.
Can the rev rec take the rain (with cover) or should leave in better shelter. Figuring where to put it haha.

Do you use your rev tec as a grill as well as a smoker or just smoker?

Recteq all the way. New RT-590 owner here and this is the best smoker I've ever owned. I've got limited experience with this particular smoker compared to my other smokers and others who own this one but so far I'm smitten. The build quality and materials is second to none. The electronics are well thought out and the app does everything you'll want it to unlike most of the competition. The days of frustration over missing app features is long gone for me.

Looking to get a new smoker. what are your thoughts?
Rec Tec , Traeger or others? and why Pro's/cons

Thanks
Purchased my first pellet smoker 6 months ago, a treager. Should have done my homework, I have to clean it out every 2 to 3 uses along with the temp probe. FYI, I have 3 other smokers but wanted something I could grill with and not have to check on for a few hours, fat cap briskets take a few hours. Just my opinion.

Please check out this thread that is currently featured on the carousel. That should answer your question...along with many, many other threads I've done where the RT 700 was used :emoji_wink:

Wow, I missed this earlier Robert. That is one delicious looking slab of meat. You did quite well getting through it that far :emoji_wink:

Also a Req Tec 590 owner. Great units and super CS.

I don't own a RecTec but have friends that do. They all rav about them. The RecTec sales force is their customer base!

Just be aware that pellet smokers do not produce the smoke profile that other charcoal and log burner pits do. My wife prefers food off my Yoder vs. the offset because of that.
