That thing is a beast! Not exactly portable but it sure looks like you designed it well.
 
Those extensions that go up above the doors, ... are they magnetic door holder openers?  

edit: well I see from your next picture that they are mounted on the doors. Maybe a counter weight?

counterweights is correct. the steel is 3/8" thick . They were way too heavy to not have counterweight.
 
I like it, thats a really cool design.

Are you planning for a warm spot in the center or are you adding heat diffuser tubes from the firebox toward each end?
 
BTW......Nice job on the pipe bends for the counter weights. 

I like it.
 
Nice job on the build... that is gonna be one heck of a smoker...
 
Have you finished this build? This is exactly what I was planning on doing with mine. Did you just stick with the damper plate or did you add diffuser plates? Good looking build.
