Question on the Mahogany Fibrous Non-Edible casings

When I stuff these I generally poke small holes in them to get the meat as tight as possible.

Is this OK or is it better to NOT put the small holes in them.  I use a stuffer and don't seem to have an air issue.

I would not poke holes in the casing. You will lose a lot of good juices during the cooking process from your sausage. Just my 2 cents.

Good morning Rexlan! I use fibrous non edible casings for my summer sausage, but I've never poked holes in them. 

Hopefully some of the more experienced sausage makers will drop by with more advice.

Some (not all) Mahogany and clear non edible have very very small holes in them done while making the casings. I have found the holes close to the seam areas.

You should try some cloth bags....OH YEAH

What?? I have never seen anything like this...This is cool...where did you fine these ?? Are they reusable or do you just throw them away??  Another rabbit in Nepas's hat......

I have a fried who is a professional seamstress and she makes me 20 dozen at a time from UN bleached muslin.
