Question about vacuum sealers

Discussion in 'General Discussion' started by flyfishingal, Jun 8, 2015.

  1. I have a food saver vacuum sealer. It is in its last leg. I want to upgrade. I have been looking at a FoodSaver GameSaver Titanium Vacuum Sealer. Is it worth the $$$ or should I add a bit more $$$ and get a low end commercial grade sealer.

    Or

Any good recommendations on a sealer???

    Thanks in advance

For that kind of money you could probably find a chamber sealer. You should call over to Vacuum Sealers Unlimited and see what they could do in that price range.

Unless you are going into commercial business or just have the $$ , the Game Saver would be good. Be Frugal . . .

  4. disagree ...... buy a low end commercial sealer ..... you will be glad you did

I had an original food saver that worked great for years. Then it finally gave up. I was given one of the vertical food savers and it's a total piece of @$&!!! I can get through 3-4 bags and then it overheats and you can't use it till it cools down. I will be buying a vacmaster but I won't be buying a chamber sealer. I often do large cuts and I'd have to buy a commercial machine if I wanted to go the chamber route.

  6. I went and checked their site out...they look like there are some good one there. Will give the, a call tomorrow

  7. That is the same one I have...3-4 bags and it is done...I hate it. Just need help from all of you here to help me get the best one for the $$$. Thanks for sharing

i dont know about the vacmaster BUT i will say they have excellent bags. better than foodsaver and a fraction of the price.

I bought 4 rolls of their material and it will not pull any air out of the bags no matter what I try. And yes, I called them and got nowhere. I'm not impressed at all.

You are having problems with the vacmaster bags? I bought a 6 roll pack recently and have just about used them all up with good results. The only time I had a problem was when I didn't have a good seal on the first side of the bag.

I can't get them to suck out any of the air no matter what I do. I even double seal the first end, but no luck. Any other brand bag works fine. I have a Cabela's commercial series machine.

  12. I have heard good things about the Vacmaster sealers . I have a Weston and it works great . I have used the vacmaster bags extensively and find them to be excellent . If I were shopping for a sealer today I would probably choose a Vacmaster

I have no problem with the vacmaster bags that Lisa sells. Another bonus is thy she has a monthly coupon code for SMF members. Use the search feature here to find the threads where she posts the code.

  14. I gave away a perfectly working Foodsaver sealer because of those bags.  I typically do high volume when I smoke and put the meat away (~100 lbs throughout the day of brisket, ribs, chicken, etc)  The 'off' brands don't provide as good of airflow, therefore they are harder on the motor and the motor has to rest more often.   Since I thought the problem was the sealer, I bought a Weston Pro and had the same problem.  I went back to Foodsaver brand bags and sure enough it worked like a charm.  I can seal ~15 consecutive bags without having to let it rest between bags.

I told the person with the old sealer about the bags and they told me they hadn't had a problem since I gave it to them.  They were using Foodsaver bags.

I'm not sure if mine works well because it is a vacmaster sealer with vacmaster bags but I can seal 20+ bags back to back with no problems and I have the cheapest sealer they make.

I presently have 3 Foodsaver Sealers they all overheat when I'm doing a lot of sealing and so I use them all. My next one will be a commercial model or chamber machine and it will come from Lisa. I have used several thousand of the premade bags she sells and haven't had any problems. I used to use Foodsaver bags by the roll but got a bad batch and had problems with 4 rolls of them in a row that ended using them for me

  18. if any of you non-believers ever used a good vac sealer you would throw your foodsaver in thr trash ............. night and day difference

I completely agree. Back when was fishing I was spoiled when a friend owned our local fish market. His chamber vac and blast freezer was the best thing for packing all the fish we caught, and the game we shot during hunting season. It cost a few bucks but was worth it! He sold the shop when I was 14 and that's when I bought my first food saver. The owners fished with us and that's how we got turned on to the home vacuum packers. Like I've mentioned that thing lasted forever. The new ones suck, or don't suck it don't deal or seal too early.. I have heard good things though about the vac masters and that's going to be my next one, just not a chamber as I pack too many things that won't fit in one that is within my price range.

Glad to see I'm not alone with this problem.
