Cross my fingers this works. Aluminum pans I had were to deep and small for what I wanted to do.
Pork steaks on a bed of onion with sauce under.
So I was thinking of turning the pork after a couple hours low under 300 in the ECB.
I put a bit of water in the remaining bottled sauce to thin it . If I add more later, it won't be to thick. I put salt, pepper and a bit of minced garlic on.. a little sauce.
I think applewood chunks go with the sauce and pork.
Using a foil covered grate over the original ECB charcoal pan that has a 10 lb block in it as my deflector slash heat sink.. 2 inch gap all the way around I would say.
Need to keep temps down.. Pyrex only can take so much heat.
3 p.m. Will see if this is done by 8.
Think 250 to 275 will work.
we smoke pork steaks right on the grate .....this will be good as well ....
I am working on something as we speak ...
Lol.. just like low oven or slow cooker.. I'm doing mashed potatoes and some green beans with onions and bacon I guess. Didn't brown the steaks so they would go in cold and get some smoke.
Sauce after 2 hours is way thinner from the onion and meat juice. Just went and flipped the meat.. still in 275 degrees range. The liquid isn't really bubbling away.. just a simmer.
Beans looking good..
Very tender fall off the bone stuff..
I got a heat surprise as I forgot a I added a big pinch of chili flakes.
Over good meal. Worth 5 hours work.
Gonna give this meal a good 4 out of 5
For ease of prep and cooking.
Cost and taste. Comfort food!⭐⭐⭐⭐🔳
Looks like I have some clear Pyrex to clean. 😬
Looks good. Mom made these in the oven. Could have used the smoke for more flavor...JJ
Looks real good
Thanks.. I'm gonna try with scalloped potatoes next time.. little cheese maybe.
turned out pretty good.. might use peppers in it if I do it again. Thanks so much. 😬
Looks tasty, you need to buy some disposable aluminum pans there much more economical by the case.
RRU, Good looking dinner and smoke !
Lol, Pyrex is about 25 yrs old now.. it has served me well..
That's a great looking meal. I'd eat that anyday.
And yeah, I think scalloped potatos woud be perfect with this.
Lol.. thanks.. yeah. Onion and thin sliced potatoes. In a white sauce. Toss on some cheese 👍
