Been wanting some shredded beef burritos for a while and spotted Tri tip on sale today.  Am I nuts for considering smoking this superb cut of meat to 200-205° and shredding it, or has anyone else shared in my insanity?

to me that would be a waste of a great cut of meat...take to 135-140 internal temp and slice across the grain....pick up a roast and use that for shredding

I love grilled Tri tip steaks, but caught this for $3.49 a pound, so It just a quarter a pound more expensive than roasts.  Got two in a package, so was tempted to experiment

Prolly smoke it to rare, then do a quick revers sear on the grill

If you want cheap pulled beef... Try FWIsmokers beef Shanks... leave the tri tip for the goodness it is :)
