Shout out to Bearcarver Bearcarver , his method for prime rib is spot on. This weekend was my parents’ 49th wedding anniversary, and with the storm in the gulf there was to be no bowhunting. I had a 3 bone prime rib that I bought last December, so we decided to smoke one Sunday.

Used pecan wood, smoked at 225-230 until my internal temp hit 125, then I pulled and rested for 30 minutes before slicing. Came out better than perfect, couldn’t be happier!!

Made a foil boat so I could save all the good drippings!

Here she is. I seasoned with salt, pepper, garlic and basted with butter, garlic, parsley, liquid smoke and kitchen bouquet. I used a few sprigs of rosemary as a basting brush and it really turned out nicely.

Thanks everybody. I just realized how poor my plated pic was. What a shame. We had fresh turnip greens, and my mom made her famous rice with pine nuts. A fantastic pairing.

indaswamp indaswamp , I think I got that idea from an episode of Man Fire Food, I cant take credit for it. But the aroma coming out of my smoker was absolutely killer, and I was happy with the bark on this roast. Will definitely add that to my repertoire.

Just an old family basting recipe. What can I say, I like it. Sort of like A1, I love the stuff. I honestly doubt you taste either, but the kitchen bouquet certainly did give the crust a nice color!
 
VERY NICE! And congrats to the parents!

PS....you have a smoking addiction.....you know the saying.....If one smoker is good then 3 or 4 more is better!

That's what we had for our 49th, 50th, and 51st Wedding Anniversary.
LOL---And I got one waiting in the Freezer for our 52nd Anniversary coming up in December. Can't Wait !!
