I was in sams club today and discovered they are now selling prime grade meat. They had packers, whole ribeyes and sirloin. I picked up a prime packer for $3.46 a lb! Came out to about $46. Its going in the ok Joe pellet cooker with some oak pellets tonight! Glad I didnt pay for that Costco membership just to get some prime briskets.

I picked up 2 prime briskets at my local Sam's club. But have yet to smoke any yet.
Be interested to see how your brisket turns out.

Just pulled it out of the smoker to wrap and put in a cooler to rest! Temp was 187 and it was soft and juicy. I put it in the pellet cooker at about 8:30 last night and then moved it to the electric at 11:30 to finish it off, no sense in wasting pellets.

With my Sam's it's hit & miss.
They have Prime ribeyes quite often, and briskets once in a while.
It's a 1 hour drive each way for me, so I can't keep checking to see what they have.
It's like Christmas morning when I go there & they have Prime packers!

Yeah I was happy to see they had the prime packers cause I was debating going with a buddy to Costco which is about 45 min from me and stocking up.

Our local Sam's had Prime on my last trip last week. I think the whole packers were about the same price range. It caught my eye but I didn't buy anything but I may be back there soon.

Sams here has always had prime packers only, and it tickled me pink that the trimmed flats (usually select, but occasionally choice) were always at least $2 more a pound.

I tell ya what I've cooked a lot of briskets and this prime one from Sam's was hands down the best! A friend of mine had cooked a wagyu a couple weeks ago and I think this even topped that both texture and flavor. I rubbed it with onion and garlic powder and coarse black pepper and then did a light dust of of a brisket rub that I found at rural king and decided to give a try. The flat rested for longer than I wanted but it ended staying hot for a long time but it worked out cause was hot and juicy with a killer bark. So yeah give the prime briskets from Sam's a try!

Yeah it’s awesome that my local Sam’s has been carrying several prime packers lately. It’s a big time commitment cooking one for half a day or longer on my OKJ. The amazing results are worth it but I just haven’t had the time available lately. Hopefully soon. I’m doing pulled pork tomorrow so that will have to satisfy my meat tooth for now.

I was was very disappointed in the selection of prime grade briskets at my local Costco store this week...The store is only a few miles up.the road so when the selection was poor the first trip...no biggie...the second trip a couple days later I was a bit bummed...third trip it mid week this week was WTH.
The largest full packer they had was 12.3 pounds and most were 10-11 pound range.
Real thin flats on most with what appeared to be a lot of fat. I've purchased many very nice packers there in years past with no issue surrounding selection...size and selection just wasnt there this time around.
Honestly 8d never seen a 9 lb full packer before and certainly not a meat case half full of 10 pounders.
Glad I had one in the freezer for memorial day.
