Using up the last of our homemade ham we had for Christmas Eve. https://www.smokingmeatforums.com/threads/bacon-and-ham-run.312130/#post-2285604
This is simple and the way we do this, it’s so creamy and rich. We like this the best:
Chop a medium onion, we use white onion, about 3 cloves garlic minced. Here I used 3 Tbs of butter to sauté. To that I added 2 tsp. Of Knorr chicken bouillon granule’s.
Once this starts browning on the bottom of the pan, I add about 1/2c white wine to deglaze the bottom of the pan. Then I add the diced ham. The ham will absorb all those garlic, onion, and wine flavors. Simmer until thick.
Then add between 1 pint and 1 quart of heavy cream and about 1 quart of milk. Add diced potatoes and simmer until potatoes are done. If more liquid is needed, add water to reduce.
From here, some fresh grated Parmesan or cheddar cheese with crackers or bread makes the soul feel good. This is rich, creamy soul food. Thought I would share.
