I’m smoking up two pork butts for my ministers meeting tomorrow night. I love pulled pork because it’s generally cheap and feeds a good crowd. Today I was in for quite a shock. I haven’t bought pork butts in a while and went to the grocery store after church. Each one of these 10 pound butts was $30! I couldn’t believe it. That’s here in Oklahoma. I usually buy my pork and chicken down in Texas where it’s a little cheaper. Is this the going rate where you’re at?

$1.49/LB is now what they call a sale around here anymore. They used to go on sale for $ .99/lb a couple times a month a couple years ago.
I’ve taken advantage of a few of those sales. I was just surprised when I saw that today. We raise all our own beef and I smoke a lot of beef usually so I’m not too up to date on pork lol. I don’t know if I’ve ever paid that much for it before

If I had to pay retail for beef, I wouldn't be eating much of it. It's getting to the point where I'm considering raising a couple hogs as well, the way pork prices are trending. Pork has, in the past, been cheap enough not to bother but that seems to be changing.

Can usually find on sale somewhere near me in Ohio for $1.49 - $1.99 most weeks but some stores at $2.49- $2.99 when not on sale.

$3 a pound. Hmm I haven’t bought any this spring but pretty sure they were $2.50 ish last fall when I did up a big batch

Great looking on that pork butt!

Went to the gs with the wife last week and the price was $.99/lb. They had four out so we took them all. We already had 15-20 butts in the freezer but couldn't pass these up. Usually make pulled pork (2 butts at a time) two to three times a year, and use 2-4 butts when making deer sausage, depending on how many deer we get that particular year. Usual price is $2.50-3.00/lb.

I was very lucky to find a picnic and a butt in February for .99/lb and grabbed one each,I would have grabbed more but I don't have that kind of room. The likelihood of ever seeing them at that price again is pretty much zero. Generally around here under $2 is a good sale so those two for me was a huge score.

Wasn't in the market as I have a few in the freezer but grabbed these yesterday. Walked by these a few times and finally couldn't pass on $1.69 / lbs. They seemed to be calling my name.

Usually runs anywhere from $1.78 to $2.18 at the local Winco. A few months ago for whatever reason, overstock maybe, it stuck at $.99 for a solid month. I may or may not have bought 10 or 12.
