Maui, Hi.
Does anyone here know if Photobucket has their problems resolved regarding the pop up ads with the imbedded "bugs"?

Thanks All.

I'm not sure if they got the bugs "worked out" just yet, but I've been using it with Firefox browser and AVG for several weeks now...no probs so far. It does seem to have been a random issue...either you got tagged or you didn't. If I get hit again, I'm better prepared with a tip from another member (he just shut down the cpu and restarted to regain control) if my browser firewall/AV doesn't catch it before the crap flies.

I'm not sure if they have fixed the problem but I have still been using them even today and I haven't had a problem yet.

Last week when I was using it I got the phony baloney "Your computer is infected with a bazillion viruses message" and then a window opened which was supposed to look like a Windows Explorer window. Except it was in a Web page so that kind of gave it away.

I didn't click on anything. Instead I used Alt F4 to close the active windows, went back into PB and finished what I was doing.

I have since scanned with Malwarebytes, Superantispyware, Spybot Search and Destroy and McAfee VirusScann Enterprise and confirmed that my system is still fine.

So . . . it appears that there still may be problems but if you use Alt F4 to close the windows instead of clicking to close the suspect windows, maybe the code won't execute.

i using plain old IE, no probs here either. your spyware/AV should catch them bugs if they out there no ifs ands or buts... you got just as good a chance a picking up something here as PB... I refuse to let the hype distract me from using a site i enjoy. heres what i think about it... and yep straight from PB!!!

IE here too, erain.

I downloaded Firefox and put it on one of my computers. I use it every once in awhile but (YAWN) didn't see anything to get excited about.

I work in IT for an organization with about 850 computers on the network -- all using IE. Most of the time (I said most, not all

) it is what happens AFTER the fake alert pops up that gets ya. Either clicking on an X which is really in a page and executes code or clicking No in the fake a$$ prompt that comes up pretending to be a legitimate message that will execute the same code no matter what choice you make. We tell people don't click anything. Use Alt F4 to close the window, if that doesn't work, use Task Manager to kill iexplore.exe then restart it or restart the computer.

Every once in awhile we have to run some malware removal tools but not very often.

good point Dave, i guess i sort of assume that if a page comes up which the user did not initiate, the user knows not to click on anything on it. thats just like you hearing the doorbell ring, and you go and open the door up to whatever maybe out there. so far my Trend AV and Spysweeper have even prevented those.
