I'm more of a lurker right now, and do enjoy it here, Will become more active in the future, I have a few questions I'm hoping to get help with.
In the near future we will be moving to Tennessee (Tri Cities Area) is there any reputable meat markets where we can buy say an entire beef/hog or whatever. I'm not sure I worded that right, but here in Central Florida we bought an assortment package from a market that was supposed to be awesome. It wasn't. we still swear the pork was from some old wild boar, grey, tough & tasteless. The beef was so nasty the night critters turned it down. The rabbit was okay...not fantastic..just okay. The assortment wasn't cheap, just under $2700.

I've done alot of Googling, there are many family owned farms that offer meats, we'd just like to know in advance if any are better than others. Our master plan is to get separate freezers (and a generator) 1 for beef, another for pork, a 3rd for seafoods....But we would really like to be able to just deal with one family business. Kind of like one stop shopping.

Any help here is appreciated.

I really can't help since I'm in the middle part of the state, but I wanted to offer a big TN welcome when you make the move. There are several people on this forum from East TN, and hopefully they can help you out. When you get there, stop by Quaker Steak and Lube in Bristol. Awesome wings.

run over to Tndeer.com and search freezer beef, fellar on there raises beef and is top notch, a trip to Crossville would be needed though, welcome to ETn in the near future

I'm about an hour or west of the tri cities. There are several butchers who raise sell and butcher to order. Other options are out there if you just ask. Bet you my last dollar one Saturday morning spent in the local barber shop will give you several leads.
