So, the last few days my right foot has been hurting.....bad. I thought it was bunion issue. But had blood work done. I have gout. Hurts pretty good walking. And having to kneal? Well, I'm not trying that again! Anyone else here have this?

Not me, but I worked with a guy who had it real bad at times. I personally saw how bad it affected him. Diet change was the big thing that helped him, but I don't remember what he had to avoid...

I have had gout for a couple decades. It was very painful at first, but meds fixed it. For me its been very manageable with minimal flair ups. I take Allopurinol daily to keep it away. I took colchicine at first when it flared up, but I havent taken that for a very long time.

Mine started and remained in my big toe. When to the ortho and it was red hot and swollen. He took one look and said "you have gout". They can look at the joint fluid, but he said that was not necessary unless I wanted to have a bunch more pain, so I said no thank you.

I didnt make any diet changes, but if you read up there are some that some say help them.

start drinking fresh squeezed lemon juice in water every morning. Lemon juice has citric acid. I know this sounds weird, but drinking lemon juice (which is acidic) raises body pH. And raising the pH in he blood slows/stops uric acid crystal formation in the body, and the higher pH will help dissolve the formed crystals in your toes. You can also start eating allulose, which is a mirror molecule of fructose and has amazing benefits for the body. Our body can not break it down-our human enzymes can not break it down, they were designed to fit fructose-not allulose, so it just circulates in the body. I am not sure of the mechanism, but allulose will pull uric acid from the body and eliminate it in the urine. I had mild gout when I started Keto and this saved me. Also- drink more water in the morning....keeps uric acid crystals from forming, and helps you pee more to eliminate.

Also- stop ALL fructose and alcohol intake indefinitely until the gout is relieved for 3-4 month. Fructose is the #1 cause of uric acid build up in the body, Alcohol is the #2 cause....And I mean ALL! So no sugar at all (table sugar is 50% glucose and 50% fructose). Allulose is about 70% as sweet as table sugar. But no artificial after taste.

I had it last year, on the outerside of my left foot. It hurt so bad I thought it was broken. Got on Allopurinol for awhile, cut back on drinking and increased my water intake daily, and haven't had it since. I stopped taking the Allopurinol about 3 or 4 months ago and it has been good. When I did some reading on it, water intake seemed to be a helping factor for alot of folks.
Beer
Beef
Seafood
Are just a few they say is high in purines. Thats what raises your uric acid level.
Hope you get it figured out, that s*** hurts like hell.

I chose not to change diet and stay on the allopurinol, I drink a ton of water already. I cant recall the last flair up. So its working

Thanks all. I'm taking cherry tart pills. I was just prescribed 100mg Allopurinol .
The Doc. And. I was amazed my doctor looked at me. Talked to me about my diet. And he said to back off on seafood for a couple of months. @sandyut How long does it take for the Allopurinol to take effect?

You're really not gonna like this part but red meat contributes to flare ups of gout.

I have two co-workers that have it and they had to drastically reduce their red meat intake to avoid flare ups.

It is not the sole cause of it though.

Damn, sorry to hear this, Steve.
I have a buddy that suffers from it really bad, I've seen him in tears over it a few times.
Good luck and do what the Dr says.

I took the colchicine and allopurinol together at first. Its been a long time, but I think it got better pretty fast. Im on the 300mg size.

the couple flair ups I had over 20 years were nothing in comparison to the first one. Kinda felt them coming.

It depends on your philosophy as to how much to change in your diet. I eat less red meat now than 20 years ago, but that was not a decision based on gout. heart issues and general healthier lifestyle as I get older was a bigger influence.

Yeah. I read that. I'll wait to see if I need to curb that! Thanks for letting me know.

Thank you.

I know people that had gout, went Carnivore and eat tons of meat and red meat like beef and no more gout. I don't buy the red meat an gout connection. I think the biggest culprit in the SAD diet is hidden fructose in processed foods....like BarBQue sauce for instance....or standard ketchup...people don't realize how much of it they consume until they start tracking it.
