Haha I think a lot of people don't know how wonderful a gently cooked chicken egg from a properly raised chicken can be. :-)I Had a customer give me a dozen last year and they were the best eggs I have eaten in probably 50 something years. not sure what feed he was using but the man could grow eggs lol

Like I said earlier, a light in the coop will fool their daylight clock, and keep them laying all winter, but the trade off is that your girls burn out faster. I prefer to just let mine follow their seasonal cycle. It has to be healthier for the birds.For a few days from shortest daylight of the year they are doing rather well.
