I sold 13dz eggs on Thursday to one lady.

These are what we got since then.
I have one or two that are lazy

I Had a customer give me a dozen last year and they were the best eggs I have eaten in probably 50 something years. not sure what feed he was using but the man could grow eggs lol

Yeah

She said she went to 3 local sores and they had 0 eggs, one manager told her on the truck enroute.

My daughter said even the px was very low on eggs.

Yeah it is.
I'm hearing that most hens now have started molting and laying less.
(still think its the fermented grain)

I'm going to go get a heated waterer today, its been freezing and the empty water bottle and ping pong balls, the girls dont like in the water.

Also going to put a solar motion activated light on the outside and a wifi outdoor cam inside and out.

We had a neighbor, older lady that’s seen a thing or two. Anyway in the winter when her hens stopped laying in winter she added red Chile powder to there water and they would lay better. Probably a heated waterer will do same but maybe not. Back when I had about 25 layers they did slow but I was still covered in eggs. Foxes fixed my egg gathering problems anyway. Once they got in I couldn’t keep them out and they killed them all. Actually bit through the wire, was the large pattern chicken wire.

Chickens lay in cycles with the length of the daylight hours. Putting a light in the coop on a timer to extend the time they are exposed to light will make them lay in winter, but there is one other thing to consider. A hen is born (hatched) with every egg she will lay over her lifetime already inside, so forcing laying burns the hens out faster.

I just feed, water and clean the coop. They have plenty of natural light and plenty of roosting space. I did buy a heated waterer today and couple of wall mounted nesting boxes. The water bottle with salt not working well to keep ice off.

You really have to have a heated waterer. I'd like to go with a 5 gallon bucket nipple waterer so I can just chuck a tank deicer in it, but I have not trained my hens to use one yet. I really like the K&H fount I got a couple years ago. It works well, and is easy to fill.

Haha I think a lot of people don't know how wonderful a gently cooked chicken egg from a properly raised chicken can be. :-)

Me thinks the girls have decided to take turns on dropping cackle berries.
For a few days from shortest daylight of the year they are doing rather well.
Our supplier back in Minnesota is usually down to an egg every 3-4 days by this time.

I need to find a local source. Since we had to go to store bought, it just isn't the same.

Like I said earlier, a light in the coop will fool their daylight clock, and keep them laying all winter, but the trade off is that your girls burn out faster. I prefer to just let mine follow their seasonal cycle. It has to be healthier for the birds.
