Well today governor did a mandatory 3 week shut down for all ohio schools due to the coronavirus. Looks like my oldest has a little vacation. They have to go Monday. I'm assuming its to set them up with tablets/laptops to do assignments from home. I hope it all works out so they dont have to make up 3 weeks worth of school.

It's time to be pro-active , I don't think that's is a bad choice , it's a smart choice . Daughter is a teacher. They're not closing yet , but have a plan in place to post lessons online .
I totally agree with you. Its the only way to do it. Being proactive that is. If there is no reason to be out and about...then dont be. There will be a lot of people that are going to have to deal with things they dont want to and its going to have a big impact on people. (For a short time) Ive talked with several people today...mutual buisness owners...customers...employees..and they all agree on one thing. It sucks! But ive noticed one thing in common.....they all want it to be over. Well....its not over yet and it sure as hell wont be unless something starts now. Yes it sucks some of us will loose some money...yes it sucks we wont get to go do things we wanted to for entertainment....but if we ignore those things whats the cost??? Id rather not find out!

I'm going to keep this comment as neutral as possible because it's not meant to spark a side debate.

Given the serious economic panic taking place:

It's definitely time for the President to step up and realize that this is the defining moment of his presidency. This may be the only time since 9/11 that the whole country is unified, and watching.

Big moment. Not sure id want the responsibility myself.

30 MILLION kids, nationwide, depend on school chow for nutrition. For some of those, it is the only balanced meal they get for the day.

In a way; That looks like the tip of the iceberg. Those living paycheck to paycheck, and the poorest in the nation, will be the hardest hit.

I'm pretty darned happy I listened to my wifes forecasts of doom about this pandemic. We didn't have to "hoard" anything because the freezer is always full. the pantry pretty much the same. We grabbed one extra case of water and a extra TP, figure we can go a couple of months if need be, haven't been much of anywhere for over two weeks now. Jan gets cabin fever, I tell her if you feel it's killing you just wait until it really is. Being a construction guy I found my hazmat mask in the garage today, what a treasure, I'll go to the store when things run low. I thought Trump did the best he could do last night, this is a crisis situation and folks better be prepared to take care of themselves. Nobody is going to be able to step up and take care of those who aren't prepared, there will be too many . Brings to mind the old saying, "God helps those who help themselves". Never been more true. My son attends the University of Wyoming, they extended spring break by an extra week to give the staff time to prepare for online classes, presumably for the rest of semester.

So far as I know East TN none have closed. Wife is a teacher and says it is probably coming around their spring break

Knox county and a couple private schools were closed today. Your wife is right I guarantee you they will extend spring break a week or two. Announcement will probably come later today if I had to guess. Blount county was telling students to take home their books and chromebooks

This whole crisis is hard for me to wrap my head around. Since I am definitely not an expert in health care or disease control, I am resolved to trust the authorities who are experts to know and do what's best. And my sincere hope is that our political leaders are heeding the best medical and scientific advice to make the proper decisions. My laymen's opinion is that they might be over-reacting a bit...but again, I'm no expert, and it's probably better to over-react than to not react at all. Hopefully we'll be able to look back in a month or 2 and know that the drastic measures that are now being taken were the right things to do to put this pandemic behind us all.

Stay safe and healthy, my SMF Brothers and Sisters!
