I thank I am done with the planing stage. Time to jump in and get my feet wet. Thanks for all the input from the folks here on SMF. Y'all have been a BIG help , and keep the suggestion/addvice coming. I have never build a smoker or even a grill befor now. This is new ground for me.

Then I found a trailer. It was Biger then I was planing on. But for the price I could not pass on it. But the added realestate my build has grown.

Then I found a good deal on some 1/4in plate at a local scrap dealer. No turning back now.

It has took about a month but I have finally finished building my FB.

My FB is 30"L x 30"W x 24"H. My door is 24"W x 17"H. I have 20sq" of air inlet above the door and 40sq" of air inlet in the bottom of the door.

Good start. I keep debating weather to build a trailer or fixed smoker. Looking forward to seeing this one come together.

Got some more done this week end. With Ahumadora help made my door handles. Used stainlessteel for the handles and cut the bracket out is 1/4" plate.

Plus got the FB/CC opening drawed out and filled tank with soap / water. Planning to cut it out next week end.

Nice going.   You may want to add some structure to the inside of the firebox door to stop it bowing when it is hot. Maybe an X or flat bar stich welded on its edga around the outer perimeter of the door.

Thanks Ahumadora. You can't see it with the pic.that I posted but on the in side of door above the air intake that is wielded all the way across the door. I put an X made out of 1/2" key stock.

Well got some more done this weekend. With some nice weather I was able to put the tank on trailer where I whont to wield the the legs from tank to trailer.

Now would like some input on hinges. I am thinking on using 6in flat wield able so I can keep the low profile that I am shooting for. Or would it be better to make some that will give some lift to the doors. Plan on my top flange to be on inside of tank. sides

Hit wrong button. The sides and bottom of door the flanges well be on the outside. If i use the flat 6in hinge
