Great to know! That was definitely the highest or close to the highest she's been. I was worried about the temp with the wood stove being as big as it is and being directly underneath but I think as long as I don't make any extended runs to Home Depot I should be fine.

Yours looks great!!

Mine’s almost ready to go. Just need to weld the legs to the firebox and fire it up.

Nice man, looks great! Lemme know how it turns out.

Just got this little present for Father's day. My vegetarian sister's weren't overly happy with it :emoji_laughing:but Is the finishing touch for sure!

Cheers!

That’s fantastic! I’m seasoning mine right now. Holds temp nicely. Can’t wait to cook on it.

Either our measuring and cutting skills have improved or the gods shone upon in this instance allowing us to fit this chimney in perfectly. I still plan to put a small roof on the chimney to prevent snow and rain from getting in.
Nice Job. quick question, is there a cover on your vent on the smokehouse, and do you find yourself adjusting the wood stove vent to find the sweet spot for your hot smoking. I will building my own using the book shown below "build a Smoke house". Is OAK ok to use as material. I have a bunch of planks I made with my Alaskan Sawmill and would prefer to use wood I already have. Also, would it be benificial to make it dual purpose, both hot and cold smoker? thanks

So I got it seasoned and used it last weekend for the first time. Baby back ribs. Unreal.

Didn’t have much trouble keeping the temp consistent between 250-275. Hoping to lower the range the more I get familiar with it.

I wanted to thank the poster for giving me the inspiration to build a smoker from some of my own Sawmilled oak and an old Northern Tool Fireplace insert. The temperture is controled both from the inlet valve and the stack valve (wood boards) Temperatures could be maintain with about 10 degrees for about an hour then I would put another log on the file. depending on the draft, I could run it at 175F all the way up to 275F. Note that the smokehouse has about a 1.5inch gap to the stove since I welded a standoff frame on the sides of the stove to raise the smokehouse floor above the hot stove surface.
