Hey all,

Steve here in Northern Virginia - brand new to smoking, athough I have a lot of experience with cooking and grilling, and I'm excited to start learning another method of making really tasty meat (and maybe other food, too), and get some input from this community along the way.

My birthday present to myself last month was an Masterbuilt electric smoker (20070910), and I also picked up some wood chips (Hickory, Mesquite, Apple, and Cherry), as well as a Maverick ET-732 thermometer - everything I've read I'll need to get started.  I've been busy, so I was finally able to season the MES this past week, and I'm looking foward to trying it out for the first time this long Columbus Day weekend.  Looking to start off simple with some chicken leg quarters.

Tips, tricks, etc. are highly welcomed!

This a great place to come to start smoking. When I started, I had limited success until I found this forum. Use the search bar to get information on different ways to do a project. Ask questions. Post your smokes with pictures and you will get comments and suggestions. There are some great people here who are generous with their experience.

I look forward to your posts!
