Hi all,

I've just purchased a Weber Smokey Mountain Smoker (a neighbor has one similar), and am just starting out with it.  I haven't even received it yet (but its on the way!).

I've cooked on gas and charcoal grills for a while.  I even shovel a path to the grill in the winter, so I get good use out of it!  I've wanted to get into smoking meats for a while, so I'm really looking forward to it.

I'll be trolling the board now to find out exactly how to use this, and would welcome any assistance.

There's a restaurant in Macedonia that offered to help me out as well, so I have some good face to face people to work with as well.

Looking forward to talking with you all,

Frank

Thanks Dave!  I'll be talking the course for sure!  I'm rolling through the seasoning posts that are out there now, so I'm hoping I can hit the ground running this weekend!

A rather random question though, is there a point when the weather outside prevents you from keeping the necessary temp for smoking?  I live in Cleveland, so it gets pretty cold here, and I know that I've had issues keeping temp on my gas grill when its in full winter/snowy/blowing weather.  I would think that this would be the same with a smoker, but it that the case?  I do have a garage that I could use for shelter, but that's a little far from the house.

Guess I'm just trying to make sure that I can get some use from the smoker in the winter time!

Thanks everyone!

PS I have a kegarator in the basement.  From what I've read, a bounty of beer is a necessity!
