Newbie from Central Illinois

Greetings - I have gotten the barbecue bug. I have lived in several states known for excellent barbecue and am now in an area where I do not have ready access to great BBQ (just referring to my little hole in the wall) so last summer I started experimenting with my charcoal grill I bought at Sam's club. I recently purchased a Master Forge Propane smoker from Lowe's and tried it out last weekend with a Lamb Shoulder - Owensboro KY style.

Had a hard time getting the right temp - solely operator error, but it still came out pretty good. I'll post a couple of pics soon.

Welcome to the SMF....glad to see another Master Forge gasser on here, which is what I have. With a few mods I find it quite easy to use. Here's the link if you wanna take a look....fiberglass rope around the doors really helped with the smoke and heat loss..

Chef Willie - thanks for the info. The pics are awesome. I plan to make a similar shelter asap. The winds were at a minimum of 22 mph when I was smoking last Saturday. I had it close to the fence, but that didn't help at all.
