Hello all, I'm trying to use a Masterbuilt MES 20B 279.8-Sq for basically the first time, never smoked anything before and I just bought a bag of bear mountain wood pellets before doing research and finding out wood chips are preferred in this type smoker. Should I take the pellets back and get chips or am I good to use the pellets? I've read that to use pellets I should get a pellet tube attachment, is that really needed?

If you are new to smoking it might be best to use what the manufacturer recommends. If there is a problem with the way your food comes out you won't know if it is because you substituted the pellets.

I use a combination of pellets and chips in my smoke generator. The pellets make more smoke but the chips make more/better flavor.

When I first started smoking I tried to do to many different things at once. Do some simple smokes at first until you get familiar with the smoker. Smoked brats are pretty tasty and easy to smoke.

Hello from RI.

Use your smoker as recommended. All the mods/upgrades can come later once you've learned your smoker and have had successful cooks.
