Hello there my name is Dustin and live in sunny southern california. Just recently got my first smoker a Green Mountain Grill Jim Bowie. I have been BBQing for years and always wanted to try this since my dad got his a year ago. I have yet to smoke anything still learning before i attempt something. Any good ideas for a first time smoke?

Hello and welcome from East Texas. This is a great site, lots of information and great people that are willing to throw in their two cents worth on about anything.

Powder Welcome. Most say that a pork butt is the most forgiving cut and therefore great to start with.  Go to the pork section.. There you will find a number of step by step techniques to help you right long!

Also check out Jeff's 5 day E Course.  Its totally free and will give you a solid start on the right foot!
