Are you using store bought rubs or making your own?  If concocting your own from a recipe then I agree with

, cut the salt amount in half for the first go, then adjust for the next time. Whether it's Dr.'s order or just being more sensitive to salt in general, it's a good approach to follow.  Obviously how much rub is applied is part of the equation :D
