It finally came tonight and didn't have anything to slice. Then I remembered a small caned han prodduct that had been sitting on the shelf in one of the cabinets. Time to get rid of it and do something with it.

Controls, on off, and always stay on. Variable speed knob.

Thickness adjuster.

About 10 years old, didn't know what to expect.

I wouldn't say that it shaved the meat but was pretty thin. Probably my fault for not chilling it first, it was kinda mushy.

Overall I think it may do the job. I think calling it "Professional" is a bit over the top.

I think it is a great bargan at 44 dollars. I just checked QVC and they still have them listed.

I had hoped to have a Pastrami ready but couldn't determine when I would get it, UPS site wasn't reporting right and didn't know until this am. That will be the real test, shaved pastrami.

In case you are wondering, the ham went into the garbage, not even a taste for the dogs, poor guys, they were waiting patiently, not taking any chances.

Ron with that you might actually start smoking some stuff! LOL. Congrats on the slicer. Watch the fingers!

On the roast I did with mine Ron it did shave it nicely. Could of been better but it works good and for the money I can complain at all.

Thanks for the review Ron.
Missed the one bmudd did so I'll have to go search for it.
Was wondering if your ham would have been any good since you said 10 years. Someone (not sure who) recently posted a link that gives shelf lives for many, many foods opened, unopened, etc.'
Unopened ham they say is best in 2 years but is safe but after that time the quality reduces.

Though I don't blame you on not risking anyones health, man or beast.

I didn't even like the smell of it.

Well I put it through a another test, cost me 9 dollars for a pound of Genoa Salami.

I struggled trying to get 2 slices the same. When I did get close to very thin you can see what happened, they were half slices. Then at the end you can see the thickness of the slice on the top. That would not slice as it would fall between the carriage and the blade and fall down through the gap that was there. That alone is a deal breaker.

I guess it may work for some, but I wouldn't reccomend it for anyone wanting to shave meat.

Brian, I am glad it worked for you.

My old Rival works better than that.

I called QVC and because they determined that it was defective the are waiving the 9 dollar return shipping fee, whew.

I thought I was moving up from my Rival but I guess not. It does have some nice features though.

Oh well, the search goes on.

Any ideas?

Well, judging by the way that thing sliced your salami I think I'll pass on the slicer, at least you had an excuse to eat some tasty meat.

Only thin I can say ron, commercial, commercial, commercial.

I've tried lots a the cheap slicers, either do what yers did er die right away. Best cheap one I got is a old rival, won't slice paper thin but will slice decent.

I know tip but not worth the investment for using it once or twice a month, not to mention the weight and a place to keep it. I'll keep looking.

I had a Globe Automatic at the restaurant, it was sweet.
