My laziness might have led me to an effective new way to get my AMNPS lit.  Disclaimer:  I rarely have a hard time getting the AMNPS lit with just a small torch.  For whatever reason though the maple pellets I got are a pain to get lit?

Last week I was smoking some bacon, took the AMNPS out of the MES and set it in my gas grill and forgot about it all week with about a row of pellets still in it.  This morning I'm smoking a small turkey breast I brined in Pop's brine to make some sliced lunch meat.

Anyway... I thought the pellets were probably shot after being out of a sealed container for a week.  I figured I'd put the AMNPS on one side of the grill and light the other side on low for a little bit.  Amazingly (pun intended) the pellets lit right up and are burning great.  That's the first time that's happened with this particular bag.

I had them on the grill on low, on the cool side for about 20 minutes.  Not preaching this as the best way to get the pellets lit, I know some prefer the microwave or the oven.  This worked well for me though since the grill was right next to the smoker.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!
