New MES 40, YEEEEY!

Brown showed up last night with the new MES 40. Now I'm tickled. Nothing like a new toy! I got it all unpacked and put together today so should get it seasoned in the morning. It sure is purty!Plan to take the maiden voyage on Saturday. Chickens, or country ribs, or maybe a chuckie.

I'm seasoning it as I type. Set the temp to 275. Took 24 minutes to reach max temp which read 279 on my Mav. The element cycled off and the temp droped to 269 on the Mav. Cycled back on and temp went to 274 then droped to 270. Back on now at 273. I am a happy camper. Appears temps are almost dead on. I think I got a goodun!

I don't (yet) have a fancy thermometer, but twice I have used my existing thermometers (oven and BBQ), and in both instances, my new MES40 was spot-on.

Perhaps you & I got the only two calibrated units.

 Could be I guess. After reading all the posts and reviews I was prepaired to live with using the Mav and internal temps that never got above 250-260 range. I am very happy because I like to do chicken and other things around 275.  I am doing some ribs today so we will see how it does with some meat in it.

My Sam's club mes just got burned in this weekend... I had my mav probe on one of the center shelves and it got to about 268... Guess that's close enough to the 275...
