New MES 40...I'm finally in the Club!

Well my MES 40 arrived yesterday and it's all put together and ready for seasoning tonight during the game...Go Nats!  It looks like it will be perfect smoking and beer tasting weather tomorrow~! 

I was taken back by it's size.  In a good way of course.  For the last year I've been using an old Brinkman that I bought for my father nearly 15yrs ago.  It worked like a champ, but the MES is in a whole new ballpark!

I'm thinking about a Cold Smoke / Hot Smoke Double header in Honor of the Divisional Playoffs.  I'll start in the cool early morning with a 4hr cheese session followed by some country style prok ribs in the afternoon.  I'll get the AMNPS loaded and ready to go!

It's going to be one hell of a way to break-in the MES.  Thanks SMF for all of the feedback, reviews, mods and troubleshooting solutions for the MES.  This site is a true Jem, and I spread the word to as many people as I can.

DDT, morning.... Congrats on the new smoker....   Have you considered the AMNPS from Todd ????  It is a perfect match for the MES when smoking....  I have one and the two are a match made in heaven....  Dave

Congrats on your new acquisition!  You will love it.  That, the AMNPS and a Maverick dual probe thermometer and you have the perfect setup IMHO.  But, I'm sorry, I believe you mistyped.  It's "Go Cards!"  Not "Go Nats"!!

We just finished the ribs & beans off from the first smoke in my new MES 40. :)

Dave- I agree, Todds AMNPS is one of the greatest assets for smoking that I've run across.  I started with the AMNS and used that for a while, then tradded it to a buddy for a few well aged reserve style brews.  Now he's enjoying the AMNS.  I look forward to enjoying the fine marriage of the AMNPS and the MES.  I'll run Cherry or a mix of Apple and Pecan(Thanks Scarbelly) for the Cheese and run PMC for the ribs or chops.

Bigfish - Atleast I know what you'll be doing tonight.  It's going to be one hell of a pitchers duel!!!!! I've thought about the MAV double stick for a while.  Now I may have to pull the trigger.
