New Member On SMF

[Compulsive Smoker]

Hi guys! I came across SMF a few days ago and immediately signed up because I felt like I’d found a family I didn’t know I was missing!
I’m 28 years old and own 10 acres of woodland with a small house in Pennsylvania.
I’ve been grilling over charcoal since the age of 10 when my dad found an old rectangular charcoal grill at an auction for a few bucks and brought it home. He helped me figure out how to light it, but was never much into cooking so from there on out it was mostly trial and error!
Only about three years ago I discovered the world of smoking, and have been playing around with it ever since! I’m mostly self taught and would by no means call myself anywhere near professional.
I am very much looking forward to learning great tips and tricks from you guys who have been doing this much longer than I have!

Welcome from next door! Cooked from a young age too. No BS, the level I am cooking at is surreal and it's mostly due to this place. I also learned to cure/make hams and sausage/etc. I would suggest you grab a remote therm setup and/or instant read. IT is the key to most of this.

Thanks for the welcome! I agree with you on the remote therm, I have a ThermPro TP20, absolutely essential to good meat coming off the smoker!
