After much deliberation and considering my options with charcoal, gas, and electric smokers, I have decided on the convenience of the electric smoker as this is the first smoker I've ever used. I have a Masterbuilt 40 in. with RF Remote Control arriving in a few days. I didn't think the bluetooth model warranted an additional $80. I know I need to season the smoker before using it. What other things do I need to know as a noob to this hobby? Are there any mods that I need to do before using it the first time like adding a chimney or anything? Where is the best place to buy wood from?

Hello and welcome to you.

I would recommend that you get you a

Amazen pellet smoker tray.

Amazen is right on here, I have one and love it.

You usually won't get enough smoke from the MES by itself.

Lots of MES owners here, try going out into the forums

and down the list to electric smokers.

Have fun and congratulations on that shiny new smoker.

Good evening and welcome to the forum, from a cool evening here in East Texas, and the best site on the web. Lots of great              people with tons of information on just about  everything.

Thanks for the tips. I forgot to mention I ordered the cold smoke attachment. I wouldn't need the Amazen pellet smoker tray with that correct?
