Hello,

New here, newer to smoking as well. I'm only about a year in. I have a Masterbuilt electric smoker. When entering the hobby, I was simply after the taste. Did not want to mess with charcoal. (please dont hate me lol). However, I know may branch out and get a charcoal smoker one day.

As of late Ive been getting into jerky, smokies, as I know them, seems they are snack sticks elsewhere. And soon to be making some sausages. (still learning here)

Im from Cleveland Ohio. Little cold right now, so its real nice having that controlled , insulated smoker.

Welcome to the forum Paul!  No shame in using the electric!

Lots of folks here putting out some great Q with the MES.

Welcome
There are plenty of folks using a MES on here with helpful tips
I too thought blasphemy when I switched over to propane but man is it easier. From what I read the electric
takes that even further. There's a ton of great reading and info here.
Good luck and enjoy

Thank You,

Yes it is great having electric. Thermostat controlled, set it and forget it. Besides the wood, it will hold temp. Ive smoked in 11 degree weather, with a below zero wind chill. Held temp like a champ. Plus its bluetooth, can operate it from my cell phone! Recently added a cold smoker to it. I love it for those reasons, but I do want a charcoal one for a few times a year I get frisky lol
