Hey guys,

I live just north of Kansas City in Kearney MO. I love me some bbq so it's about time to start making my own. I have 2 young kids so not alot of time to go out so we stay home alot and have the time on the weekends to try and not ruin some meat.
I'm a groundskeeper by day and custom knifemaker by night. I like to tinker and all that fun stuff.

I have a budget of $300 to spend on a smoker and really not sure what I want to get. I have been looking at the Oklahoma Joes Highland and the Old Country Wrangler II. Both are not the highest quality but I feel like the wrangler has a leg up due to the smoke stack position, welded one piece firebox and built into heat deflector.

Anyone have any opinions on either? Or another option I should be looking at?

Thanks for having me and sharing the knowledge.
Justin

Welcome to SMF!

You may want to look at a Weber Smokey Mountain.

The 18.5 is $299.

Thanks for the welcome Al, ya know I havnt really considered one. I had kind of had my heart set on a traditional offset but I will give them a look.
