A friend of mine has a tank that he would like to make a smoker out of. We discussed horizontal or vertical and he likes the vertical idea. I'm not sure calculations are right figuring sq inches.

My biggest question is this - if we go with the vertical, as seen in the diagram, the dotted lines would be solid steel with the idea of it being a baffle type setup so that the heat and smoke has to weave it's way thru the box., (haven't decided if the firebox should be under or beside it), would it be possible to regulate the heat and smoke this way?

Thinking 2 square holes for air with a slider to cover on 2 sides. I'm thinking the pointed side will be to the back and the exhaust will fit there better, plus it will be easier to make racks that slide out.

still coming up with ides.

The last diagram has the measurements on it and I punched my brain back to high school days (tramatizing) to remember how algebra works and I came up with  34,560 cubic inches (not 100% sure)

As you see, the shape of this thing is causing a little difficulty

Input/advice most welcome
